Our team is excited to announce that we have been recognized as a recipient of the Canadian Mental Health Association Peel Dufferin (CMHA Peel Dufferin) 2019 Caring Community Award – an award which recognizes individuals and organizations that have helped promote and encourage mental health awareness, reduce stigma and have made a positive impact in the lives of individuals and families living with mental illness.
For over 50 years, CMHA Peel Dufferin has been a pioneer in providing services for people with mental illness and educating Canadians about mental health issues. They champion good mental health for everyone and support the full participation of those with mental illness and addictions in the life of the community. In addition to providing a variety of mental health services, CMHA Peel Dufferin is also committed to community development, mental health awareness and addressing the stigma surrounding mental illness.
In their 2018/2019 Annual Report CMHA Peel Dufferin Branch wrote, “good corporate citizenship has always been important to Facility Plus. So when owner David Levy heard we needed help for our annual Ride Don’t Hide fundraiser, he offered his services… for free.
David’s crew co-ordinated pick-ups and delivery of bike racks, banners, shirts and water bottles essential to a successful ride, served as on-route rider assistance and collected all 150 route markers as they went.
In October 2018, David joined the Ride Don’t Hide volunteer planning committee. The committee set a fundraising goal of $85,000 but David believed the event could raise $100,000. Thanks to Facility Plus and David Levy, Ride Don’t Hide 2019 raised over $130,000.”
Giving back to our community has always played an integral role in our business. All of our team members are proud to actively support a wide range of charitable groups and sports organizations. It’s our way of sharing our success and making a positive impact in the communities we work and live in.
As President David Levy explains, “There’s no better feeling than that… when you look in the mirror and say, I tried to make a difference today.
If you and your team would also like to become involved with mental health initiatives, we encourage you to visit CMHA Peel Dufferin’s website to learn more. It can be as simple as giving a donation, or supporting their role in the community by becoming an individual, organizational, or corporate member. You can also volunteer! Learn more here.
